What Is All-Wheel Drive?
All-wheel is a drivetrain configuration that sends power to all four wheels continuously, as opposed to just the front wheels or the rear wheels. This is beneficial in both dry and wet road conditions. In dry conditions, all-wheel drive increases performance and handling; in wet conditions (like rain, sleet, or snow), all-wheel drive improves traction to prevent slipping and sliding.
Power is not equally distributed to all four wheels in all-wheel drive; instead, the vehicle senses the right allocation of power to send to each wheel at all times.
How Nissan Intelligent All-Wheel Drive Raises the Bar
Nissan offers standard all-wheel drive that behaves in the fashion detailed above, but it also offers its own unique Intelligent All-Wheel Drive on certain models. Also known as part-time all-wheel drive, this system send up to 50 percent of available power to front wheels when necessary. When conditions are ideal, it can distribute 100 percent of power to the rear wheels. This means you can get the enhanced traction when you need it but can still enjoy thrilling, rear-wheel drive-like performance at other times.
Nissan's Intelligent All-Wheel Drive provides confidence and flexibility without compromising performance.
